G.K. Chesterton and Notre Dame

The writer’s things add a new dimension to the University’s presence in London

Gilbert Keith (G.K.) Chesterton was one of the premier English Catholic intellectuals of the 20th century and is well known for his many contributions to literature, journalism, theology, and the arts.

A collection of his books, manuscripts, art, and personal effects was donated to Notre Dame by Aidan Mackey, one of the foremost Chesterton experts and among the only surviving individuals with connections to Chesterton’s family circle. The collection was dedicated in October 2022 and now lives at the Notre Dame London Global Gateway.
