Ancient civilizations boiled water to convert it to fresh water, but today Aerospace and Mechanical Engineer Tengfei Luo is working to desalinate water with an ionic liquid as a new solvent. This breakthrough is ten times more efficient than current solvents, costs less, and doesn't use high amounts of energy which is a welcome discovery for a thirsty world.
